Ukraine backs martial law
Ukraine's parliament approved a measure to impose martial law in some regions. The move comes a day after Russia fired on and seized Ukranian ships in disputed waters near the Crimean peninsula. Martial law will take effect in coastal regions and those bordering Russia on Nov. 28 and will last for 30 days.
Why it matters: During a UN Security Council meeting Monday to discuss the conflict, U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley joined several EU nations in condemning the attack on Ukranian ships, calling it a "dangerous escalation and violation of international law." Trump, however, declined to specifically condemn either side, saying he’s “not happy at all” about the escalating spat.
